Now THIS Is A Summer Morning

It was somewhere in the 70's, a breeze strong enough to make a little swishing in the trees, crickets chirping (shouldn't they be sleeping - I know they were up all night chirping) birds singing, and it all felt right.  I had my coffee,

some yellow paint

and a front porch that needs a facelift

Not even the sight of all this ugly glue under the indoor/outdoor carpet dampened my spirits.

I tried scraping and it actually comes off without too much work.

Yippee! I can get rid of the ugly green carpet if I'm willing to scrape and scrape and scrape. I am!

First coat of yellow is now finished and I love it!  It brightens everything up.

The beautiful summer morning turned into a hot summer afternoon.  I did my share of  work so now I can stay inside and sew guilt free!

Kitchen fabrics

I made some curtains for the kitchen. (About time - we've been without for 18 months. I just couldn't find anything I liked.) I don't know why I have trouble with curtains. It's just a rectangle. Look what I did. That's not the picture; it's the curtains. One panel has the trim an inch higher than the other. But I like them enough to fix it and I'll make a valance for the top and a valance for the windows over the sink.

I had to buy a little bit more fabric to finish so I got some extra, and some gold and green to go with it. I thought maybe a table topper or placemats to coordinate would be nice.

Pretty dishes

Aren't these pretty? I hate to put food on them!

To clean or not to clean

No work outside the home today so some housecleaning should be done, I suppose. But can I really eliminate this reminder when it brings a smile?

Judging by the height and size it must be Zak's. I think I'll quilt instead. If anyone stops over unexpectedly we'll avoid the family room and I'll steer them towards the living room.

The list said "buy flowers for neighbor" but I couldn't resist a few for our house.
